Selina Tusitala Marsh was born in Auckland, New Zealand in 1971 and is of Samoan, Tuvalu, German and English descent. Her doctoral research at the University of Auckland explores the works of the first Pacific Islands women to have their poetry published in English. She won a Fulbright Scholarship in conjunction with an East–West Center Award to further her research at the University of Hawai‘i at Manoa, for 18 months. Her poetry has appeared in Mana and Wasafiri.
