Poem notes
'Letter to Hone': The poet Hone Tuwhare (1922-2008) was my wonderful friend and mentor in both the literary and the Māori worlds. Hone reappears in 'ripples,' along with my friend the poet and artist Joanna Paul (1945-2003).
'Writing Place': Barrow Street, Bluff
'An Island': These seven poems represent what I think must be the essential 'elements' of an island. Each 'element' speaks.
