conspiracy theory

i cried it from the rooftops and to the empty streets
i tried to tell you but your friends said you could not be reached

i don't think you'll like this song
you won’t want to sing along
can anyone hear me
conspiracy theory

i seen a lot of people and i done a lot of stuff
a lifetime of experience but now I've had enough

you gotta believe me
i wouldn't deceive u
i love you sincerely
not like the rest do
i’m giving a warning
telling you now

the midnight hour is coming and the revolution’s near
I said u had it coming but u didn’t seem to hear

i don't think you'll like this song
you won’t want to sing along
can anyone hear me
conspiracy theory

This is a song about paranoia, a very common condition today. It makes me think of the film ‘Slackers’, where everyone sits around inventing all these plots. I guess it’s about the search for meaning in a godless universe!
