Have You Ever Been To Thailand?
Have you ever
been to Thailand?
I know many people who have –
they tell me it’s hot
the city of Bangkok
its tropical beaches beautiful
but as for myself
I have never been to Thailand.
With its bar girls I have never fallen in love.
But this evening however, at home after work
as I contemplated whether to cook or buy takeaways
my neighbour Sae who was preparing food
to celebrate the festival of the Thai new year
surprised me with the gift of a small bowl of fish.
So thus while I have never
been to Thailand
this evening I can say
that quite unexpectedly
Thailand came to me.
It was hot
it was spicy
and I loved it.
