Some kind of a writer

Some kind of a writer you look for a way
into the great adventure, arms raised

in a Superman salute to the heavens.
Some kind of writer you take the plunge

into bush to sit on a rock and echo
Byrne’s same as it ever was.

Some kind of writer you stare down consumerism’s
bright corridor, intent on taking life

as it comes. Some kind of writer you return
to regionalism’s clear stream

where relationships merely polite
drop like dead limbs.

Some kind of writer you pause
like an ant to rehearse

the insane logic of the colony.
Some kind of writer you cut yourself

off from the world, like the car and its macadam
sheets spread through rainforests.

Some kind of a writer you negotiate
a link with heaven and a bond with earth.

Some kind of writer
you are

some kind of a writer you
are.
