Picnic on a clifftop

First you feel
like making

love to the world, it's that great

to be alive. Then you excuse
yourself and you're left

forever after with an astonishing
first impression — it's true

what they say about love, it comes

complete with instructions.
You set it up
and it falls

into place

                           o

Carving a leg
down to bone, making an effort

to let the die come true — she means him

and he her.
Thistledown drifts

in the sun's pale beam, ships
chained to the sea floor parp.
A wave flowers
