PLAINSONG II

From cool pilasters
extravagant flung arches

all the delicacy of green
a constant antiphon streams –

the contraction of existing
spaces, a full white dilation.

Under a shot silk sky
the stern & slender boy has

bees sip honey from his wrist
instead of falcons.   We’ll stop

for now trying too hard
for things that are only given

& ease out subtly into air
our mouths full of laughter

sing a recurring grace here
wide sloping wings of light

omnes angeli et archangeli
lucent as petals.
