Percival Street, Wellington

Here we are

more backwater than before

I am on an open sea now

this is strange ever strange

drifting on a cardboard boat with a nikau sail

it’s so dark

it’s so quiet

the distance is silent and so is desire

my fingers brushing another time

who will wonder why we sail

through the lethargic morning

as if

rain

always shines

a thousand miles

away?
