and down caught in this blueblack window of candied stillness up and down our eyes
fixed tight together tight on the olamic reach of indigo tighter on the play of mother
father daughter daughter mute as mackerel the minikin family up and down held
between auckland heat and otago snow turquoise lips dumb in the reckoning of buoyant
account absolute stillness in the undulating moment on the open sea we wait to watch
the whale
