the lecture on Maya Angelou
the wimmin met outside theatre corporate
they unrolled their bedrolls
lit their primus stoves
boiled their coffee
they were queuing
to see the production
of a midsummer night’s
dream
it was 2am
they waited 18 hours
patiently cheerfully
someone was telling
a wicked story about her stepfather
when the box office opened
one of them could tap dance among bullets
somebody got drunk and was sick
somebody fell in love comes to the same thing
when they got in
the play was boring
the seats were uncomfortable
they waited too long
