the long tall cool girls
walk in line
each holds her number

at the end of the walk
their fur prickling
they are led
into a small house
with no outside door
there the judges let them have
five minutes in conversation
to prove they have brains
as well as beauty

and one stupid woman
from the midwest
shot herself in the mouth
not understanding fully
the rules
