He has just completed a historical play/trilogy (A Mutiny Stripped, Boultbee, Hirokiís Song) set in the South Island and is also working on a book about the play, Maranga Mai, a seminal work of Maori theatre, 1980Ė81, which he directed, co-wrote and acted in.

tony

tony itís me at the gate
with some mussels &
a dozen beer in a crate.
i see a te whiti miniature
on the easel,
your own body dipped in ink
from samoa.
iím with you tony!
on a cliff face at muriwai
with emily karaka in a storm
& finally
at the coffin
alan is kissing your face
(makeup running all over the place)
just as you kissed phil clairmontís eyes
back then.
another coffin,
same passion.
