Ficus

Of what complacence every morning now
Our unpretentious garden is the scene!

But yesterday to transports we were moved
By our young Omi-Kin-Kan’s coronal.

Today our infant Turk his leafy sprouts restrains,
And duly offers us one small plump fig.

From a Garden in the Antipodes (Sidgwick & Jackson, 1929)
